Black Friday

Well, I think this requires a post. I am now officially one of those crazy people who wakes up way too early to get a deal on Black Friday.

Been wanting an mp3 player for some time now. I usually listen to music on the computer so haven't totally needed one, but it'd really be helpful for my Mom as well as stuff like exercising. Also would help a lot for practicing yo-yo freestyles. Not to mention letting me veg out with some podcasts or ebooks while lying down, which could be nice too..

iPods are cool, but a bit too pricey for me at the moment. I tend to play specific songs instead of using random, so the iPod Shuffle was out with its lack of screen. I'd also prefer to just be able to drag files around instead of needing a special program to transfer music.

After some searching, decided that the Sandisk Sansa M240 1GB would be one of the decent ones. My current music collection (mostly from eMusic) is a little over 2 gigs at 192VBR MP3, so I think that's a good compromise. Plenty of room for my favorites while rotating out the rest occasionally.

I belatedly saw it on sale for $80 at Best Buy, but all three local stores were sold out. Then, with the help of Blackfridayads.com, saw that Circuit City was having it for $70 (as opposed to $120) if you got there early today. That's nearly half off!

Got up at about 4am and cleaned off the car (white thanksgiving!) and got there a little after 5am. The parking lot was already full and Mom ended up dropping me off (eventually parking at another store nearby) while I dashed in. Luckily they had a bunch of 512KB and 1GB models in stock and four registers open, so that worked out pretty well.

As much as I'd like to play with it, I should probably got back to sleep. Only got about four hours of it so far.. This is definitely a year where people are looking for deals if Circuit City was any judge. Guess we'll see what the news has to say about it tomorrow..
